This year marks the 40th year of the Los Angeles Korean Festival that is hosted annually in Koreatown, Los Angeles at the Seoul International Park from September 26th until the 29th. One of South Korea’s most popular male groups, Super Junior, member Ryeowook even sent a congratulatory video to the
Los Angeles Korean Festival Foundation (LAKFF) in honor of the festival for going 40 years strong.

The LAKFF was first founded in 1973 by the leaders of the early Korean-American community and they formed the organization in order to keep the rich, Korean culture alive throughout the generations. The non-profit organization’s goal is to celebrate the racial diversity through the sharing of Korean culture to the surrounding community, which includes Korean-American immigrants and non-Koreans. The festival itself provides this great opportunity to promote an understanding and connection amongst the numerous ethnic groups that reside in the Los Angeles community.

This year’s theme for the festival is “Embracing Diversity for a Better Tomorrow” and Joo Hyun Chung, president of the LAKFF, explained and shared the hopes of how the theme will reflect upon the community through the festival. “Inhonor of celebrating the 40th year of this festival, we have been providing a gateway for various ethnicities and generations in the community, in which they can introduce and experience mutual cultures. They also have the opportunity to understand and communicate with each other without any prejudices or barriers.”, Chung expressed. Don’t miss out on this year’s festival as it will be filled with exciting entertainment through performances of the arts with different talents, delicious traditional Korean and Asian foods to taste, varieties of unique shopping opportunities, and much more!
