Psy nabs another world record – enters Encyclopedia Britannica

Psy’s one-hit wonder worries are behind him. Guiness World Records has confirmed that his latest release, “Gentleman”, has broken the world record for having the most viewed online video in 24 hours.

The Korean rap star’s “Gentleman” music video was uploaded onto YouTube on April 14 and received 38,409,306 views within the first 24 hours. Less than three weeks later, the music video has now surpassed 261 million hits and garnered more than 1.9 million “likes.”

Psy’s first global hit, “Gangnam Style,” landed the entertainer multiple Guinness World Records, including being the most viewed video online, the most “liked” video online and the first video to receive 1 billion views. “Gangnam Style” has been viewed more than 1.5 billion times in less than a year and has accumulated nearly 7.5 million “likes” as of Wednesday, May 1.

Aside from breaking another world record, Psy also has an entry in the online Encyclopedia Britannica. The entry gives a brief biography of Psy and describes the entertainer as a South Korean singer and rapper who achieved international fame in 2012 with the humorous “Gangnam Style” music video.
