Healthcare, which has remained largely regional and local to date, has not escaped globalization unscathed. The ministry is working on writing a revised bill to expand telemedicine services within South Korea. As of now, we are living in a globalized society and a huge part of what makes our community globalized is diversity. The increase in diversity is due to the increased number of foreigners who choose to visit South Korea.
According to the Korea Tourism Organization, the number of visitors to Korea during June went up by 29.3% from the previous year – 1.2 million people.
Many tourists visit Korea for medical purposes nowadays. According to the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the number of foreigners who visited Korea for the purpose of hospitalization, outpatient and health checkup rose steadily from 60 thousand in 2009 to approximately 363 thousand people in 2016.
