We use many products in our day-to-day lives. One product becomes a hit in the market so it typically sells a lot and is heavily used, whereas some products are completely ignored by consumers and gets lost in whatever is trending. What differentiates these trending products from the ones that get lost? During the planning stage of the product, some products are expected to be sold by upgrading the best-selling products. Pioneering the market like this poses many risks, but it becomes a hit when it meets consumer needs. These hit products can then change our lives for the better.
“Goth Design” is a South Korean company that specializes in design. They are commissioned by many other companies to design products for the latter’s brands. In the past, most products were focused on functionality, but now companies are increasing their product value with better design using technology similar to those from the technology leveling age. When designing a product, it is important to do enough market research. The culture, living environment, and consciousness level of the product’s users are all very important. For example, Goth Design has professional experience with designing bidets for the Chinese market. They were worried about this at first because it was an unfamiliar concept to foreign buyers. Chinese consumers wanted products that reflected their overall wealth and economic stability such as home décor or cars; this would represent their rapid economic growth. In response, Goth Design designed the product so that the bidet would be situated on the car seat, allowing the user to feel as though they were operating the gearbox. The bidet soon became well-received by Chinese consumers.
In response to the company’s success, CEO Seok-joon Jung said, “Good design is one that can change people’s perception while sticking to the original function of the product.”
Goth Design has also introduced other products that incorporate their design philosophy. “PETAUM” is a grooming dryer used specifically on pets. The device combines both the functions of a brush and a dryer to ensure proper grooming. Unlike generic dryers, “PETAUM” dries even the roots of the animal’s fur without burning the sensitive skin beneath.
Goth Design will not only help us take care of our pets with “PETAUM”, but revolutionize product design.
