Samsung Electronics Co. saw its monthly shipment of TVs reach $1 billion for the first time in the North American market in October.
It marked a giant leap from the monthly sales of $100 million in September 2004 and $500 million in October 2007, the South Korean tech giant said.
Samsung added it became the No. 1 player in the U.S. flat TV market, currently taking up 35.1 percent. Its share in the Canadian market comes in at 38.4 percent.
Citing the data compiled by market tracker NPD, Samsung said it took up 52.1 percent of the U.S. market for Ultra HD TVs as of the third quarter. Its stake for the Canadian market in the segment came to 54.4 percent.
Samsung said it plans to use various marketing efforts to garner a larger slice of the North American market during the year-end shopping season. (Yonhap)
