Facebook launches ‘safety check’ tool in response to Paris attack

Facebook launched a tool that checks the safety of Facebook users Friday night amid a deadly terrorist attack in Paris that have reportedly claimed lives of at least 100 people. 

The safety check tool allows users in the area notify their friends of their safety, and users outside of France to know if any of their friends are in the vicinity and whether they are safe.

Also, users can also notify their friends that someone in the affected area are OK by clicking “mark safe.” 

“Quickly find and connect with friends in the area. Mark them safe if you know they’re OK,” Facebook said.
