Immediately after joining the company, new Japanese employees who experienced different work environments than their expectations are increasingly expressing their intention to retire immediately

Japan’s TV Asahi reported on the 3rd that “the number of people who quit their jobs immediately after joining the company has more than doubled.” In an interview with an employee of a company that provides retirement agency services, they reported, “We are constantly receiving requests to mail our company’s statement.”

Shinji Tanimoto, CEO of another retirement agency service “Moomri,” said, “Until yesterday, eight people requested retirement agency, but today it has increased significantly to 18 people.” Five people applied for resignation on the 1st and 31 people applied for resignation on the 3rd, when the company’s entrance ceremony was held. This is said to have nearly doubled compared to the same period last year. “The number one reason for their resignation was because the actual work environment was different from what they heard before joining the company,” CEO Tanimoto said. “There are many cases where salaries are lower than the amount informed in advance or the working conditions were different.”

Complaints related to corporate culture were also cited as one of the reasons for leaving the company. “I had to keep shouting out my instructions or conduct training for repeated tests and criticism,” he said. “If you ask questions because you don’t know your work, you should think about it yourself,” and on the contrary, if you think about it yourself and ask, you should ask.”

“According to our analysis, 20% of the reasons for leaving the company were corporate problems, 60% were misunderstandings or lack of communication between companies and new employees, and the remaining 20% were individual problems of new employees,” Tanimoto said.
