South Korean girl group Kara’s new Japanese album ranked first on the Oricon daily singles chart Tuesday, the day of its release, according to the group’s agency.
“Summergic,” the 12th Japanese-language single album by Kara, topped the chart, selling over 28,000 copies that day, the DSP Media said Wednesday in the group’s first success as a quartet.
After the departure of two of its five members — Nicole and Kang Ji-young, KARA restarted last year as a quartet with the introduction of new member Heo Young-ji.
The single album includes three title pieces “Summgergic,” “Sunshine Miracle” and “Sunny Days.”
In June, Kara is scheduled to unveil its fifth full-length Japanese-language album “Girls’ Story” with a cover of the 90s’ girl group Fin.K.L’s “Eternal Love.”
Kara is to make a comeback to the domestic stage with their seventh EP late this month. (Yonhap)
