LG G4 smartphone spec leaked ahead of launch

Details of LG Electronics Inc.’s soon-to-be released flagship smartphone were leaked through its official website Sunday apparently due to a mistake by its staff, industry sources said.

The specifications of the G4, including its design, display and battery, were posted for about six hours early Sunday on its microsite before being removed, the sources said, adding an LG employee must have leaked the data inadvertently.

According to the leaked data, the LG G4 smartphone will come with a 5.5-inch in-plane switching display as its older sister, the G3. It will be 8.9 mm thick, and sized 75.3 mm wide and 149.1mm tall.

As hinted from previous teaser advertisements, the smartphone comes with a genuine-leather body, which compares to Samsung Electronics Co.’s Galaxy S6 that boasts a metal case. Detachable batteries and secure-digital memory cards port are also some of the key features that compare with the new Galaxy.

The leak came around two weeks before the official launch of the G4 slated for April 29. The company planned to keep the device under wraps before official launch events to be held in South Korea, the United States, Britain, France, Singapore and Turkey.

The device is set to compete with Samsung’s Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge just launched last week to take a larger slice of the global market for high-end smartphones. (Yonhap)
