Jinusean returns after 11 years

The hip-hop duo Jinusean will make a comeback next week, its agency YG Entertainment said Wednesday.

Jinusean ― consisting of Sean Ro and Kim Jin-woo ― will release a new single on April 15, ending an 11-year hiatus in their music career.

The announcement was made with a poster titled “Jinusean Comeback after 11 Years” on its official website. It listed the date and promised a new single and music video.

Despite the long absence in the industry, the duo has frequently appeared on TV talk shows and other variety programs.

Recently, Jinusean appeared on an episode of Infinite Challenge’s “Saturday, Saturday is for Singers (TOTOGA)” ― a segment of MBC’s long-running reality show that reenacted a TV music show from the 1990s, bringing together the pop icons of the time. After the show, fans requested the group to release a new album.

Jinusean debuted in 1997 with “Gasoline” and “Tell Me,” featuring veteran singer Uhm Jung-hwa. They are widely credited with spearheading efforts to introduce the hip-hop genre to Korea with their hugely popular tracks such as “A-Yo” and “Phone Number.”
