A video of a flying air taxi flying in Japan has become a hot topic.
According to the South China Morning Post (SCMP) in Hong Kong on the 4th, a California-based aircraft company has successfully completed a test flight of its air taxi in Japan.
On the 2nd, U.S. civil aircraft company Joby Aviation posted a successful video of an air taxi test flight in Tokyo, Japan on the company’s official YouTube.
The released video shows an air taxi flying unmanned without a pilot in the background of Mount Fuji in Tokyo.
Joby Aviation and Toyota have long been working on projects in partnership to launch electric aircraft (eVTOL) capable of vertical take-off and landing.
The media said eVTOL will play a very important role in Toyota’s goal of “achieving carbon neutrality by 2050” because it can fly pollution-free using an electric propulsion system.
Last month, Toyota announced a commitment to invest an additional $500 million in eVTOL projects.
The media described this as “funding provided to Joby Aviation at an important time near the deadline for eVTOL certification.”
Joby Aviation said it plans to offer the corresponding eTVOL air taxi service at the Osaka World’s Fair in Osaka in 2025.
