One person dies and 49 hospitalized of E. coli at McDonald’s Burger in U.S

One person died and 49 people were hospitalized after E. coli was detected in McDonald’s hamburgers, a global hamburger chain.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said Wednesday that E. coli was detected in quarter-pounder burgers sold by McDonald’s in some states.

“The outbreak has killed one person, with 49 hospitalizations reported in 10 states,” the CDC added.

McDonald’s has stopped using beef patties in certain states while the cause of the disease is identified, the CDC said.

Following the news, McDonald’s shares are plummeting about 10% in after-hours trading, Yahoo Finance said.
