Tesla CEO Elon Musk said Tesla will be able to deploy the humanoid robot “Optimus” in its factory next year and sell it in 2026.

“Tesla will test-produce humanoid robots next year and use them inside the company,” Musk said on his social media X (formerly Twitter). Internal use refers to the deployment of Tesla’s factories. “We hope to produce high production for other companies in 2026,” he added.

Musk said he will deploy Optimus at Tesla’s plant later this year to do useful work, adding that he will be able to sell it outside by the end of next year. The timing of factory deployment has changed from the end of this year to next year, and the timing of external sales has also been moved from 2025 to 2026.

Tesla unveiled the Optimus prototype in late September last year after first announcing its plan to start developing humanoid robots in 2021. In the video released in September last year, it drew attention by freely moving fingers, arms, and legs, distinguishing blocks on the table by color, or focusing on one foot as if doing yoga. In December last year, evolutionary images such as walking faster and moving five fingers smoothly were revealed, and in January this year, a video of folding clothes was released…

In addition to Musk’s mention of humanoid robots, investors’ expectations have increased a day before the earnings announcement.
