Trader Joe’s new canvas mini tote bag is smaller than the existing tote bag, but it is small enough to hold almost any belongings such as lunch boxes and water bottles. It comes in blue, red, green and yellow colors. As the tote bag attracted attention with its cute shape and low price, some people camped in front of the mart before the opening to buy it, or hoarded up 10 bags at a time. In the face of signs of chaos, some stores are said to be limiting the number of purchases they can make at once. Videos related to the bags recorded more than 11 million views on TikTok last week alone. Online resellers are also running out of bags. Trader Joe’s mini tote bag, which is sold on e-commerce company eBay, costs from $5 to $500. “We’ve already sold eight sets and there’s only one left,” said one eBay seller who is selling four tote bags in all colors for $145 a set. Another seller who offered four bags for $499.99 said one set had already been sold and two sets were left in stock. However, it is not known whether the bag was actually sold at the indicated price, as the bidding price is available at a lower price than the original price on eBay.
A store employee in Iowa said that the bag was sold out at an incredible rate for a week before it was sold out, and the next delivery is expected to be made in September. “The trend of trayer Joe’s tote bag started about two weeks ago and will be used as a great basket for children on Easter (March 31),” a store employee in New Jersey said. The trend of trayer Joe’s tote bag is reminiscent of last year’s Stanley Tumbler Crisis. Earlier in December last year, U.S. retailer Target introduced a limited edition Stanley Tumbler Collection. A video of shoppers lining up outside the store to buy Stanley cups was uploaded on TikTok.
