Folding wheels and fenders to adjust the width up to 1m… Parking even in a narrow space
Israeli EV maker to launch in July, priced at $17,400
An Israeli electric vehicle company is planning to launch the world’s first foldable car that can be folded and unfolded. Israeli electric vehicle company City Transformer reported on the 26th of last month (local time) that it will launch a foldable electric car called CT-2 in July. According to the video released by City Transformer, CT-2 vehicles can fold wheels and fenders under the body. By pulling the wheelbase, the vehicle can be used in various modes by reducing or increasing the width of the vehicle to about 1m to 1.4m. Up to two people, including the driver, can board inside back and forth. The advantage is that the seats are not reduced because the body adjusts the wheelbase, not the folding method. When folded to the smallest width, parking is possible even in narrow gaps between vehicles like motorcycles.
The company explained, “If the width is minimized, one ordinary vehicle can park up to four cars in the place to park, which can solve traffic congestion and parking shortages.” The company introduced that the CT-2 can travel about 119-178 kilometers on a single charge. It also stressed that it is twice as efficient and eco-friendly as it reduces energy by 75% compared to ordinary electric cars. The maximum speed, however, is 88 kilometers per hour in the widest mode and 38 kilometers per hour in the narrowest mode, which is slower than other electric cars. Another disadvantage is that the shorter the width of the vehicle, the lower the maximum speed. The CT-2 model costs 17,400 U.S. dollars per unit and is currently receiving pre-orders from around the world with a down payment of 162 dollars. The company said it has already decided to supply 1,000 units to Israel’s emergency medical team.
