Recently, overseas shopping malls are purchasing popular boots at a discounted price, but there have been a series of consumer damage reports that delivery or refund is not possible.
The Korea Consumer Agency warned on the 22nd that a number of reports of damage to overseas shopping malls related to the famous boot brand “UGG” have been received.
The International Transaction Consumer Portal operated by the Korea Consumer Agency received 19 damage consultations related to the sale of Ugg boots at four overseas shopping malls from October last year to January this year.
All of the victims were confirmed to have accessed overseas shopping malls through Instagram advertisements.
None of them received the delivery of the product, nor did they receive a cancellation or refund of the order.
Two of the four overseas shopping malls (ball.online, fanany.online) that have been reported have already been closed, making it difficult to resolve the damage.
To date, the two malls (KeyHedgevsOnline, orchis.online) use Ugg brand logos and product photos and drive purchases at a discount rate of more than 80%.
After seeing an Instagram advertisement on December 3 last year, A went to an overseas shopping mall and purchased five pairs of Ugg boots for 95,000 won, but he asked the seller to cancel the order several times because it was not delivered, but he did not receive an answer.
The Korea Consumer Agency plans to ask Instagram operator Meta for measures to prevent consumer damage.
The Korea Consumer Agency said, “For the first time, overseas shopping malls should be checked for any damage through international transaction consumer portals and Internet searches,” adding, “If you pay with a credit card or debit card, you can ask for help from card companies with evidence.”
