Allegations of drug use by Tesla CEO Elon Musk (53) have been raised again. The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on the 7th (local time) that concerns surrounding Musk, who repeatedly inhales drugs, have recently increased rapidly among company executives and board members.
Citing multiple anonymous sources, the WSJ reported that Musk was often seen taking psychotropic drugs LSD and △ cocaine △ ecstasy △ hallucinogenic mushrooms at private parties. Many people are aware of this even if they do not see it in person, the newspaper said. Musk has been known to have smoked marijuana in public in the past and was prescribed ketamine including hallucinogens.
In particular, acquaintances close to Musk told the WSJ, “His drug use continues,” adding, “In particular, ketamine intake continues, threatening his health and damaging his business.” WSJ quoted a source familiar with the matter as saying, “The reason Linda Johnson Rice, a former member of Tesla’s board of directors, did not seek reelection to Tesla’s board of directors in 2019 was not only because of Musk’s irregular behavior, but also because of concerns about his drug use.”
This is not the first time Musk has had a drug controversy. WSJ quoted internal sources as saying in July last year that Musk took ketamine to treat depression and entertain parties. In September 2018, he appeared on comedian Joe Rogan’s podcast and took a sip of marijuana that the host handed him. At the time, Musk was under federal investigation and drug testing.
Musk has denied drug-taking charges. His attorney, Alex Spiro, told the WSJ that Musk has never failed regular or random drug tests that he underwent on SpaceX. Musk also wrote on social media X (formerly Twitter) that he underwent an unexpected drug test for three years after taking a sip of marijuana with Logan. However, no drugs or alcohol were detected. “WSJ is not even suitable for paper use of bird poop in parrot cages,” he said.
