North Korea claims to be a space launch vehicle after South Korea’s Nuri launch, prompting a missile launch in the south direction.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff said North Korea launched a space launch vehicle claimed by the North in the south direction from Dongchang-ri, North Pyongan Province, at 6:29 a.m. on the 31st.
It is the first time in seven years that North Korea has fired a projectile that it claimed to be equipped with a satellite since “Gwangmyeongseong” on February 7, 2016.

The military is analyzing detailed specifications such as the type of projectile and the flight distance.According to the Joint Chiefs of Staff, one projectile passed over Baengnyeong Island: the far west of South Korea. Military sources said the projectile disappeared from the radar without reaching the drop warning point. As a result, the military is reportedly analyzing the possibility that the entire launch process may have failed, such as a projectile exploding in the air or falling into the sea.The South Korean military is closely analyzing whether it fired from the existing launch pad in Dongchang-ri or the second launch site currently under construction.
The South Korean military is known to have detected Aegis ships in the east and west seas and ballistic missile surveillance radar Green Pine on the ground. Earlier, North Korea announced that it would launch a satellite between midnight on the 31st of this month and midnight on the 11th of next month. He also pointed out “far from Gunsan, Jeollabuk-do to the West Sea” as the first stage rocket drop point, “sea far west from Jeju Island” as the pairing (satellite cover) drop point, and “East Sea of Luzon Island, Philippines” as the second stage rocket drop point.
If North Korea’s shooting is confirmed to be a “satellite-mounted” projectile, it will be the sixth North Korean claim to launch a satellite.
