S. Korea pledges additional $5 million to tackle Ebola virus

South Korea on Friday pledged an additional $5 million to help tackle the deadly Ebola virus as it attended a high-level conference of dozens of countries in Washington, officials said.

South Korea also announced it will host next year’s meeting of the Global Health Security Agenda.

The announcement came during the inaugural GHSA meeting at the White House, officials said.

The new commitment adds to $600,000 Seoul has already pledged on two occasions.

Senior officials from 41 countries attended the meeting to discuss cooperation in fighting Ebola and other global health dangers, including biological attacks. President Barack Obama expressed gratitude to South Korea for committing to host next year’s conference.
