Actress Yoo Seol-ah recently married the second son of Woongjin Group’s chairman, the conglomerate confirmed on Friday.
Yoo, 30, tied the knot with Yoon Sae-bom, the 35-year-old son of chairman Yoon Seok-keum, in Seoul on Aug. 22.
After debuting in 2006 through film “Mentor’s bliss,” Yoo gained popularity as one of the four lead characters of SBS Plus’ “Full House Take 2,” a television rom-com that was jointly produced by Korean, Japanese and Chinese companies. The actress earned her master’s degree in journalism from Korea University.
The groom graduated from Michigan State University and joined his family business, Woongjin, in 2009. Recently he was promoted to the chief operating officer and board member of Woongjin Holdings Co. Ltd.
The happy wedding came at a difficult time for Woongjin, however. Six days after the wedding, a Seoul court sentenced Woongjin Group chairman Yoon Seok-keum to a four-year jail term. The actress’s father-in-law was prosecuted for inflicting losses among investors and entire business units by masterminding irregular funding for the group’s financially distressed units.
Yoon had been indicted on charges of raising funds by issuing commercial paper worth 100 billion won ($97 million) from July to August 2012 while concealing some of Woongjin subsidiaries’ insolvent financial status.
