Companies have done a lot of work to create advertising promotional materials with new designs, and new concepts that can efficiently show off their products. South Korean company, EZ Group, focused on utilizing light sources and analyzed CCFL (LED backlight for LCD monitors) and EL (Electro-Luminosity: used for promotional panels in the form of surface light sources), to end up developing its own LED sheets. The sheets were sold in Europe, but the company realized that their global partnered operators couldn’t utilize them effectively. So the EZ Group finally launched a ‘G-Sign’ Kit including not only the LED sheets but also the acrylic board which was designed with special coating technology to increase penetration ratio, to prevent flaws, stains, and static electricity. In addition, the existing road traffic signs in sales were also revamped into a word-unit module to make them legible from afar at night and easy to install.
The characteristic of the EZ Free Sheet is that the LED sheet is optimized for ‘light-guiding’ which is a lighting practice where light passes from one side of the material to another efficiently using internal reflection of transparent resin. Light-guiding enables uniformly illuminating areas apart from light source, whose brightness of the area is originally uneven so that light is not scattered in the desired direction. The LED sheet can be attached to any glass window, but to prevent light from scattering due to contamination such as fine dust, it would be better to use the acrylic board provided by the company. The LED sheet emits LED light from the guide frame on the edge of the acrylic board simply after cutting and attaching the desired pattern on it.
Other rival makers in the market use LED light sources or optical fibers for manufacturing the digital signage products. What distinguishes EZ Free Sheet is the low production costs. It is also customizable for its design and easy to install without added costs. Furthermore, it is very durable, is not easily discolored by ultraviolet rays, and has no diffuse reflection — so unlike LED electronic displays, it has less glare and is easily visible from a distance. In addition, it is about 1 cm thick, which is much thinner than the existing LED electronic display or optical fiber light emitting product. It is currently available for sale in Australia, and the company is attempting to begin to export to Chiang Mai, Thailand, and Ecuador.
Furthermore, a monitoring platform is under development. The platform will control the luminosity level of LED sheets of the group’s globally installed products through the cameras such as CCTVs, which makes the LED visibly bright regardless of the environment including daylight, nightlight, rain, and strom. Its development is expected to be completed in January. After several tests, it will be offered to its users worldwide.
Notably, EZ Group has developed a differentiated model – rechargeable road traffic signs using solar power. Compared to other products which need about three hours to charge, it is fully charged in 30 to 60 minutes. With this product line-up, the company plans to make a shot of the ‘G-Sign Way’, a G-Sign Kit for the traffic sign, in the International Road Traffic Sign Exhibition in the Netherlands and CES at the end of March 2023.
The LED sheet paper, a light guiding and reflective paper, emits reflective light made by special extract materials in the form of patented and highly efficient patterns. EZ Free Sheet’s technology satisfies the innovation of digital signages and energy reduction. It is expected that advertising signs using complex and cluttered electric wires can look neat and organized if it’s replaced with accumulated technology and proven products of EZ Group. EZ Free Sheet took over 3 years to be developed after more than 700 experiments.
Anyone with an EZ Free Sheet without going through an unnecessary process of laser, V-CUT, and conventional printing methods, can easily make the light-guiding boards just by cutting the sheet into desired size and image and attach it on the board. There is no need for additional techniques for pattern design or acrylic processing. The direction of LED irradiation is not limited by the design size. With its own special adhesion technology, the sheet is adhered to the acrylic. With excellent adhesion, there is no blackening over time. And the efficient pattern brightness is 30-160% brighter than the conventional light guiding products, and the electricity consumption is also 1/20 of the fluorescent lamp and 1/2 of the existing LED. Because the work process is simple and there is no need for separate equipment, it is possible to shorten working hours, reduce working costs such as labor costs and equipment management costs, increase size, and mass production.
