Samsung Electronics topped the American Customer Satisfaction Index for smartphones for the first time, helped by its Galaxy lineup.
The South Korean company earned a score of 81 on a scale of zero to 100, according to the report by the U.S.-based consumer researcher seen on its website Wednesday. Its score last year was 76.
“While Apple still sells nearly twice the number of phones in the United States as Samsung, the South Korean manufacturer comes out on top in one critical metric, customer satisfaction,” ACSI said.
“Samsung appears to benefit the most from the rising popularity of smartphones. The manufacturer has been aggressively capturing market share with its Galaxy S and Note series smartphones,” it added.
The California-based Apple Inc. ranked second with 79 points this year. Motorola Mobility and Nokia both had 77 points, trailed by HTC with 75.
LG Electronics, Samsung’s smaller local rival, had an ACSI score of 73. (Yonhap)
