K-Herald: How is season 4 different from the past seasons?
Steven Yeun: This season has much more space to relax, to breathe. There’s just a lot of time to really dive into other people and into new threats. The best anaogy that I have to describe is that when you’re playing piano and you want to play a good song. You don’t want to play on one key over and over. You want to keep pushing on different notes and I think this season is a beautiful, fully realized song. There are quiet parts, there are loud parts, there’s everything. I think it’s going to be a beautiful season. It’s going to be an expansive season – big and immense. You get to see people that we haven’t seen before and really dive into the people that we already know. I can’t say much for what’s in store for the season, but it’s going to be great!
KH: Do you think there’s been a change for this season with Scott Gimple as the new show runner?
SY: It’s actually been amazing with Scott. I think he’s one of the most talented people that I ever met in my life. He’s so smart and he has such great ideas for the show. Honestly in my opinion, I think this season is probably our best season yet.
KH: Do you think staying in the prison is a good idea? There are still walers surrounding the gate all around and there is still even the governor in question
SY: The world is never safe…
KH: How do you think Glenn’s relationship with Maggie will be this season? There are even rumors of Maggie being pregnant.
SY: From where they left off last season, Maggie and Glenn are in a really good place. They’re very happy together and they try to live life. They’re trying to move forward, even with all the horrible things that have happened in their existence. I think Glenn just really wants to preserve what he’s fought so hard to establish and you continue to see that.
KH: From season 3, Glenn showed a strong sense of leadership. Do you think that leadership will continue to prevail and maybe even overpower Rick?

KH: How do you think Glenn survived and continuesto be an important character in the circle?
SY: I think Glenn’s situation at this point is that he’s a survivor. He’s tougher than people really think he is and with the fact that he wants to live for the peoplehe loves, it’s hard to keep someone like that down. He’s definitely resilient.
KH: Do you think you might share any personality traits with Glenn?
SY: Yeah, I think so. I think Glenn is very easily identifiable to most people. I think just the idea that the common type of faith that he has can make such an impact in growth and being the face of diversity isalso a great story of where we find Glenn.
KH: How do you think Glenn would feel if Maggie died?
SY: Yeah, I think it would be pretty rough for Glenn if that happened. If you really think about it, Maggie is Glenn’s everything. Everything that Glenn fights for and continues to live for, it kind of revolves around her. To lose that, it really just might be, “What’s the point of living?” for Glenn.
KH: Do you think that’s one of Glenn’s biggest fears then? To lose Maggie?
SY: Yeah, absolutely. If not, THE fear.
KH: What’s your biggest fear?
SY: My biggest fear in life is letting my parents down. *Laughs* Very “Korean”
KH: Do you have a favorite horror movie?
SY: I don’t really like horror. It’s gross *laughs*. If I have to pick, I love Shaun of the Dead because it’s really funny.
KH: Were there any particular challenges for this season?
SY: Every season has its own challenges. I think this season is just very interesting because we were able to just actually breathe for a while and to really open up to this world. There’s a lot of stuff coming up that I think people will really like. |
