2013 Korean Food Fair in LA was held for the first ever B2B meeting and food tasting in the US

Korea Agro Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (“aT”) held the ‘2013 Korean Food Fair in LA,’ a brand-new trade show in combination of Korean foods and business consultations on October 22-23 at the Hyatt Regency-LA Downtown Hotel.The 2-day event opened with a media conference for general information regarding Korean foods and its industry, which was followed by a panel for sharing knowledge and experience of Korean foods leading by two popular chefs, Bernard Guillas (Executive Chef at the La Jolla Beach Tennis Club and The Marine Room) and Cathlyn Choi (Host of PBS’ Cathlyn’s Korean Kitchen). The award-winning Chef Guillas demonstrated his creation of Korean and French fusion appetizers. As part of the conference program, the “aT” provided Korean fermented foods and organic ingredients to all of the media members in attendance on the opening day of the fair.


After the Media Conference, the trade show provided a ‘B2B’ consultation between buyers from the U.S., Canada, and South America and food companies from Korea, which lasted until Wednesday, Oct 23.


The fair was designed to provide current and prospective Korean well-being food consumers with an opportunity to gain knowledge, skills and connections to strengthen Korean food exportation. The fairs in Shanghai, China and Hanoi, Vietnam, were successful on the expansion of Korean fermented and organic food industries toward the international market. With the remarkable growth of Korean food consumption, Korean fermented foods and organic foods demand for the international market to access into these markets is increasing steadily and the need for food and agriculture industry exportation platform.


The “aT” has been founded as the Agriculture & Fishery Development Corporation (AFDC) for shortening the gap between the agriculture and the manufacturing industry in 1967. It has been contributing to secure domestic and overseas competitiveness of agricultural products, to increase the incomes of farming and fishing households and balance development of national economy since it has been reformed as Agricultural and Fishery Marketing Corporation (AFMC) for the settlement of marketing & promotional functions in 1986. The business activities of “aT” has been expanded to the food industry support and Korean food globalization since 2008.
