“Let Me Out” is the first Korean independent film to have been released back to back both in Korea and U.S. It is a Korean, zombie “coming-of-age” melodrama and pays homage to films Day For Night (France), Living In Oblivion (USA), and Korean cinema. Written and directed by Korean Americans, Jae Soh and Chang Lae Kim, this feature film debuts rising star, Hyun-sang Kwon, as he takes on the leading role and is also the son of one of Korea’s most renowned film directors, Kwon-taek Im. Kwon is also well- known for his roles in popular Korean dramas, The King 2 Hearts and Queen of Ambition. Hee-bon Park, a former member of SM Entertainment’s girl group, M.I.L.K, will also be joining Kwon as she displays her acting skills from her PAST experience in Korean films and dramas such as Grand Prix, Read My Lips, Family, and God’s Quiz Season 3. “Coming off the success of a sold out screening and celebrity red carpet U.S. premiere in Los Angeles, we learned FUNimation fans want to be involved in helping us plan our events. They demanded we bring “Let Me Out” to additional markets across the country,” stated Adam Zehner, Vice President of Distribution at FUNimation Entertainment. “Through TUGG, a wide variety of films can be shared within local communities and promoted online. We’ve been waiting for the right film to partner with them on and feel this is the perfect vehicle to help launch “Let Me Out” here in the U.S.,” adds Zehner.
“Let Me Out” will be released theatrically on Wednesday, September 25th at 7:30pm in four cities, which are San Francisco, San Diego, New York City, and Dallas. The film will be playing in each of the cities simultaneously for one night only in select theaters.
