There is nothing little about Cecilia Hae-Jin Lee as what her main website <www.littlececilia.com> presumes. She is a super career woman and a go-getter. She is the Korean-American embodiment of young adults in today’s society: where one does not just have one main job but in this era of multitasking and the makeup of different job portfolios, Cecilia Hae-Jin Lee meticulously juggles her career as a writer, artist, photographer and expert food guide.


Cecilia started her career path as a doctor by double majoring in Biochem and Visual Arts at University California of San Diego. As a premed student, she worked at a hospital, cancer research center and a bio lab but soon changed her course into the field of her passion, which is the Arts. She studied painting, conceptual art and installation and received a degree in Fine Arts. This degree led her to jobs in the Arts, such as a curator for art exhibitions and professional photographer. It wasn’t until the Los Angeles Times that she debuted as a writer. The Los Angeles Times had a food section, but no one was writing about Korean food. There was actually no one who could write about it. With the question of “Why hasn’t anyone written about kimchi in all these years?”, Cecilia pitched to the Los Angeles Times and became the first Korean food expert writer for the Food Section. It was her desire and goal to spread the awareness of Korean food to the world and that helped flourish her career as a writer. In the last decade, she has written two Korean cookbooks (“Eating Korea” and “Quick and Easy Cooking”, two editions of the travel guides for Korea (Frommer’s South Korea) and even a Mexican cookbook “Quick and Easy Mexican Cooking.”
