The Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Tourism Organization plan to boost the status of Korean films as well as promote charm and dignity of Seoul through movie ‘Parasite’. They are also planning to push forward new contents consistently, thereby attracting more new tourists.

Movie ‘Parasite’ is trending around the world. Starting in last year, Bong Joon-ho’s Parasite won the Palme d’Or at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival. It made Academy Award history by becoming the first non English speaking film to win Best Picture. It also scored multiple awards for writer and director Bong Joon-ho including Best Screenplay, Best Director, and Best International Feature Film. The world is going crazy at ‘Parasite’.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Tourism Organization introduced ‘Parasite’ tour including the main film spot, mapo-gu ‘Woori Supermarket’, ’Stairs in Ki-taek’s village’, jongno-gu ‘Stairs of Jahamun Tunnel’, and dongjak-gu ‘Pizza Age’. They devised ‘Parasite’ Pam Tour with film experts explaining hidden stories. After the event Pam Tour, they are going to create more new tourist routes.

Joo Yong-tae, director of the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s tourism and sports said, “The main filming locations for new trend ‘Parasite’, became sacred courses for fan as a syndrome and K-wave tourism itself. He added, “K-POP, K-DRAMA, and K-MOVIE will give a chance to revitalize Korean tourism market which is currently facing difficult situation. We will try hard working on it.”
