LS Industrial System is focusing on the smart factory industry in line with the government’s move to boost manufacturing innovation.
Opened in 2014, the LSIS smart factory in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, boasts a smart manufacturing line that automates every stage of production.
According to company officials, low-voltage circuits and magnetic switches are automatically manufactured, and programmable logic controllers and manufacturing execution systems oversee the process and collect data. A robot also takes pictures and analyzes products for quality assurance.
Products are transported by automated guided vehicles and packaged by robots with weight detection sensors to ensure accuracy.

Company officials said facility waiting time was reduced by half and energy use decreased by 60 percent. Productivity also increased 60 percent and fraction defectives went down to 8 parts per million.
LSIS announced plans to implement Cyber Physical Systems and Internet of Things in order to advance its systems.
“We are currently in the process of upgrading the middle-stage production line to the highest level, and hope that LSIS’ case will aid in innovating the manufacturing industry,” said an LSIS official.
