The 2004 film “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,” which reopened in Korean cinemas on Nov. 5, has been met with much enthusiasm by local viewers.

The film, starring Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet, garnered some 130,000 viewers in its first 10 days, according to statistics released Saturday from local film distributor Noba Media. The movie drew 170,000 viewers when it opened here in 2005.

Though the film is only being screened at a handful of cinemas and time slots, it ranked third in box-office ticket sales, after James Bond film “Spectre” and Korean exorcism flick “The Priests,” respectively.

“Eternal Sunshine,” a sci-fi romance flick by director Michel Gondry, achieved both critical and box office success upon its release, winning the 2005 Academy Award for best screenplay.
