ABC News has reported the key to success of K-POP, highlighting SM Entertainment (SM)’s training system.
The news article titled ‘Korean Pop Idols Rule Asia,’ introduces SM’s systematic training program on Friday, June 5, confirming the global status of SM.
ABC News visited TVXQ’s concert at Tokyo Dome in Japan and said, “50,000 fans gathered to see the most popular K-POP group in Asia, TVXQ. To become an idol like TVXQ are many Korean students’ dreams. There are classes that teach K-POP music and dance in Korean where major Korean entertainment agencies often select students who have talents and the possibility of becoming an idol star.”
“SM prepares passionate training programs for wannabe stars. These wannabe stars are nurtured to become a global idol,” ABC said. They also introduced SM Town’s various teaching program like dancing, instruments and language and interviewed with Mark, a member of SM’s pre-debut team, ‘S.M.ROOKIES’.
ABC also had an interview with the American production team, Stereotypes, when visited Korea for SM Songwriting Camp. Jon Yip, a producer of Stereotypes said, “Here a lot of artists have been trained to perform since they are at a young age so they are very good performers. In America, they could be discovered on YouTube and all of a sudden, they wouldn’t know what they are going to do.” The news also reported that the analyst said that K-POP artists’ performing as groups are a brilliant marketing strategy.
