OpenAI is developing SNS platform

ChatGPT developer OpenAI is reportedly developing an SNS platform such as X.

Citing multiple sources, The Verge, an IT media outlet, reported on Wednesday that OpenAI is developing a product that focuses on ChatGPT’s image creation function. OpenAI is said to be testing a way to have an SNS function that can share and communicate images with the product.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is said to have privately asked outsiders for feedback on the project. OpenAI has not confirmed whether it will release the SNS as a separate app or integrate it into ChatGPT.

It is predicted that the development of OpenAI’s SNS platform will lead to intensifying conflict between Altman and Tesla CEO Elon Musk. In February, when Musk said he would “acquire OpenAI for $97.4 billion,” Altman responded, “I am specifying. If you want, I will buy X for $9.74 billion.” The Verge said, “If we build SNS on ChatGPT, there is a high possibility that the already fierce competition between Altman and Musk will become fiercer.”

The conflict between Musk and Altman has intensified. Musk filed a lawsuit against OpenAI and Altman last year against OpenAI and Altman, saying that OpenAI violated its promise to operate as a non-profit organization after ChatGPT sparked a worldwide craze. OpenAI filed a lawsuit on the 9th to stop Musk’s illegal and unfair behavior.

OpenAI’s SNS platform also means competition with Meta Platforms (hereinafter referred to as Meta), which owns Facebook and Instagram. In February, when it was reported that Meta was developing an artificial intelligence (AI) model Meta AI app to compete with ChatGPT, Altman responded to X, “Okay. Should we make an SNS app, too?”

When OpenAI has an SNS platform, it will be able to independently secure real-time data to train its AI models like Meta and X. Musk’s AI chatbot Grok reflects X’s content, and Meta is also training its LmaMA model based on user data.
