Singer G-Dragon’s HOME SWEET HOME sound source has been sent to space.
KAIST Space Research Institute announced on the 10th that Professor Lee Jin-joon and G-Dragon of the Graduate School of Culture and Technology collaborated to successfully promote a “space sound source transmission project” based on media art.
As part of the “AI Enterprise Tech Research Center” being promoted by KAIST and Galaxy Corporation, this project is the world’s first to send messages and sound sources from G-Dragon, an artist belonging to Galaxy Corporation and a visiting professor of mechanical engineering at KAIST.
The collaboration was designed under the theme of “emotional signals to expand the inner universe of humans to the outer space,” and it is a new type of “space culture content” experiment that connects KAIST’s advanced space technology, Professor Lee Jin-joon’s media art work, and G-Dragon’s voice and sound source into one.
Professor Lee Jin-joon’s cinematic media art work “Iris” produced G-Dragon’s iris image using generative artificial intelligence (AI) technology and combined audio messages containing vibrations from home sweet homes.
The projection mapping method (a technology that creates visual changes by projecting light and images onto actual structures) was shown at the site by KAIST Space Research Institute.
Professor Lee Jin-joon said, “The iris is a symbol that reflects the inner emotions and identity enough to be called a mirror of the soul, and this work was intended to express ‘the infinite universe viewed from the inside of mankind’ along with G-Dragon’s gaze.”
“This project is an act of leaving music as a human heritage and at the same time an important meaning of attempting to communicate with the universe,” Galaxy Corporation CHO Choi Yong-ho said. “It will remain a monumental performance that opens a new chapter in music history that will be compared to Beatles.”
Meanwhile, Galaxy Corporation, the agency of Professor G-Dragon Kwon Ji-yong, is an AI entertainment technology company that presents a new paradigm based on IP, media, technology, and entertainment convergence technologies.
