Beautiful women have appeared at the Thai military conscription prosecutor’s office, drawing attention.
According to local Thai media such as Channel 7 on the 6th, two women participated in the selection process at the conscription inspection center in Utaitani province on the 1st.
These women are transgender and have submitted their sex reassignment surgery certificates to apply for draft exemption.
“When I was drafted two years ago, I postponed it because the medical examination was not over, but this year, I was tested and submitted a certificate of gender identity,” said Arit Kanika, one of them.
Another transgender, Thanet Sanrop, said, “I came to take the selection test for the first time this year, but I don’t know the regulations yet and I’m out of my mind. If I can postpone the draft, I think I will have to postpone it and submit medical documents next year.”
Thailand is a conscription country like Korea, and it recruits between 80,000 and 100,000 troops based on the birth rate in April every year. Usually, the period of military service is 1 year for high school graduates and 6 months for college graduates for volunteers.
After recruiting volunteers, those who are short will be selected by “drawing lots.” Those who are eligible for conscription will be exempted if they pick a red card from the container, and if they pick a black card, they will be enlisted in the military. Those who join the active duty in this way must serve compulsory service for two years. Transgender people can be exempted from military service if they can submit a medical certificate related to their physical and mental identity. In Thailand, only men are eligible for conscription, so transgender women can officially apply for exemption.
Meanwhile, last year, transgender Paris da Kerayupan and Cantong Pasaraphone appeared at the conscription camp in the north-central Kasetwisai region, drawing attention.
Farida is a college student and campus ambassador with 69,000 Instagram followers. Kantong has participated in about 100 beauty pageants and is called a “pay angel” among fans. They also submitted gender reassignment certificates and applied for military exemption.
