
Lara confessed her sexual orientation through Weverse, a fan communication platform, on Monday. “I’ve known that I’m a half fruitcake since I was 8 years old,” Lara said in a message to fans.
Recalling her appearance on the 2023 audition program “The Debut: Dream Academy,” she said, “Actually, I was so scared. I didn’t know that people would accept me, and I was worried that I wouldn’t have the chance to join the debut group.” He continued, “But you guys were so nice to me, gave me so much love, and supported me. That made me feel more proud of myself. Thank you and I love you.”
“Coming out can be scary. Besides, I was scared because there is a wall of people of color. But I’m proud of myself to come out like this,” Lara said. “This identity is part of me. I’m not ashamed at all.”
“It’s great to reveal this fact. It’s because so many fans told me that they were encouraged,” she said. “If it helps others, you can come out as much as you want. It makes me happy.”
Meanwhile, katseye is a global group that Hybe and Geffen Records collaborated to create. The group was formed through “The Debut: Dream Academy,” a global audition program that attracted 120,000 applicants in 2023. The group consists of six members, Lara, Daniela, Manon, Megan, Sophia, and Yoon Chae. katseye officially debuted in June last year, and they succeeded in entering Billboard’s main chart with their debut album “SIS” at 119th place on Billboard 200.
