Verizon Partners with CAPE to Celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month

verizon#IAM_ Campaign Honors the Achievement of Asian-Americans and Inspires Young People through Powerful Celebrity Stories  

In honor of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, Verizon has partnered with the Coalition of Asian pacifica in Entertainment (CAPE) to launch the second annual #IAM_ campaign, a program created to celebrate the achievements of Asian-Americans and to inspire young people to reach their potential. CAPE, a non-profit organization that champions diversity in entertainment and media, teamed up with Verizon to produce a series of PSAs featuring the inspiring life journeys of Asian-American celebrities and influencers across several industries chronicling the high and lows of their careers and lessons learned.

The #IAM_ videos featured the following entertainers:

  • Constance Wu, actress (“Fresh Off the Boat”)
  • Arden Cho, actress (“Teen Wolf”)
  • Ki Hong Lee, actor (“The Maze Runner”)
  • Daniel Dae Kim, actor (“Hawaii Five-0”)
  • Jason Chen, musician
  • Cassey Ho, fitness instructor (Blogilates)
  • Yong Kim, Ted Kim, and Chris Oh, founders of Seoul Sausage Company

In addition to the digital campaign, Verizon is also sponsoring a national road show in Los Angeles, CA and New York, NY featuring panels with the participating influencers, live performances and a chance to experience the latest Verizon devices. The locations and dates of these events are as follows:

  • Japanese National Museum, Los Angeles (May 27)
  • Japan Society, New York (June 18)

Jessica Shih, Director of Corporate Social Responsibility and Community Relations at Verizon, stated, “Verizon is thrilled to be collaborating with CAPE to build an online platform for all individuals to share their own journeys and stories. Through the video series and road show events, we hope to empower the community to inspire each other to achieve their dreams.”
