U.S. President Donald Trump has ordered a ban on transgender people in the U.S. from participating in women’s sports.
According to News 1 on the 6th, President Trump said at an open signing event at the White House in Washington, D.C. on the 5th (local time), “All schools that receive taxpayers’ money will be investigated for violating Title 9 if they allow men to participate in women’s sports teams or break into women’s locker rooms.”
Title 9 is a regulation that prohibits gender discrimination in federally funded schools and other education programs. During the Biden administration, the regulation has been controversial, including gender identity in the definition of “gender.”
Trump’s executive order states that if transgender people are left unattended to participate in women’s games, sanctions will be imposed for violating title 9.

“This will effectively end male attacks on female athletes in public elementary, middle and high schools and almost all U.S. universities,” Trump said. “Women’s sports are for women only. If there is anything I missed, I will make up for it quickly through orders.”
In addition, Trump said, “My administration will not stand by and watch men beat and assault female athletes at the 2028 Los Angeles (LA) Olympics.”
President Trump signed an executive order last month stating that the federal government defines gender only as male or female and gender cannot be changed. He also signed an executive order last week to exclude transgender soldiers.
