South Korea retries execution of arrest warrant for Yoon Suk Yeol president

On the 15th, world-class foreign media urgently reported on the execution of the second arrest warrant for President Yoon Suk Yeol by the high-ranking government official’s criminal investigation office and the police in real time.

The BBC, a British public broadcaster, posted a “Live Channel” on its website collecting breaking news on the attempted execution of arrest warrants. “Investigators in Korea have started arresting President Yoon again,” the BBC said. “More than 1,000 police officers are attempting to enter the residence through various channels.” The confrontation between the police and the security guards is “symbolic illustration of the political crisis” facing Korea.

Japan’s public broadcaster NHK also reports in real-time that the Senior Civil Servant Corruption Investigations Unit and the police, which attempted the second arrest of President Yoon, arrived in front of his residence and presented an arrest and search warrant.

Citing domestic media reports, British news agency Reuters said, “South Korean investigators arrived at President Yoon’s residence to execute the warrant,” adding, “Live video showed Korean police trying to enter President Yoon’s residence from behind the president’s residence.”

Reuters introduced the background of the second execution, saying, “The authorities failed to execute the first arrest warrant issued against a sitting South Korean president after a confrontation with hundreds of presidential security guards and military guards on the 1st.”

France’s AFP news agency reported that “Korean investigators trying to arrest the impeached president of Yoon Suk Yeol are confronting presidential guards while trying to execute a new warrant,” adding that the clash occurred while trying to execute the warrant at the official residence.

U.S. broadcaster CNN also said, “The South Korean authorities investigating President Yoon arrived at President Yoon’s residence for the second time last month to arrest him in connection with the declaration of martial law.” CNN said, “A vehicle from the Airborne Division, which is working with the police and the Ministry of National Defense to investigate President Yoon, was seen arriving at his residence early in the morning,” adding, “President Yoon is avoiding arrest ahead of the investigation and impeachment trial at his fortified residence surrounded by security teams.”

The Washington Post (WP) reported, “The Korean police have launched a large-scale early morning operation to arrest the impeached president,” adding, “Police have gathered to execute an arrest warrant for President Yoon, who was impeached after declaring martial law last month, but is not cooperating with the investigation.”
