Twinkle Pickles Popular on TikTok

On TikTok, ‘Glickle’ pouring glitter into a bottle of pickle has become a hot topic.

A video clip titled “Gleekle” was recently posted on Dixon Boots. In the video, a TikTokker was pouring glitter into a pickle bottle. “Gleekle” is a combination of the words “glitter” and “pickle,” which means “sparkling pickle” in Korean. The video has garnered 21.6 million views, making headlines. People who watched the video commented, “Does it taste prettier if I eat pickles like this?” “Can I eat it like this?” “It’s pretty, but I don’t think I can eat it.”

The glitter used in the video is FDA-certified “edible.” The label is marked with “edible,” and the main ingredients are sugar, acacia, food-approved pigment additives, and cornstarch. If the glitter has a phrase such as “decorative,” or if there is no list of ingredients, it should not be added to a pickle. Decorating glitter contains adhesive ingredients, which can irritate the mouth or esophagus when consumed. If you swallow the adhesive, forcing it to vomit can cause complications such as aspiration of vomit and damage to the esophagus. When you go to the hospital to check the ingredients of the product without vomiting, you should bring the product with you and inform the doctor of the amount you swallowed.
