ChatGPT developer OpenAI announced that it will launch ChatGPT’s search function for all users from the 16th local time.
When it was launched in late October, the search function was only available to paid subscribers such as ChatGPT Plus, and in a month and a half, the search function was expanded to be available to anyone who logged into the ChatGPT account on mobile apps and websites.
As a result, competition with Google’s search engine, which accounts for 90% of the global online search market, is expected to begin in earnest.
Google’s search market share is overwhelming, but since ChatGPT is the most used AI model in the world, attention is focusing on whether it will shake the search market.
ChatGPT has seen 250 million weekly active users, a 1.5-fold increase over the last year. In particular, Google, which was considered a leader in AI when ChatGPT was first unveiled in November 2022, was very nervous.
With the expansion of the ChatGPT search function, users can set it as the default search engine in a web browser, OpenAI explained.
