Teen dies by electrocution while charging mobile phone on express bus in Malaysia

According to local media such as the Bernama News Agency, The Star and Fremalasia Today (FMT) on the 3rd (local time), an 18-year-old teenager on an express bus lost consciousness in Penang Province in northern Malaysia on the 1st. Another passenger who witnessed this called an ambulance, but the medical staff who arrived at the scene declared the teenager dead.

Witnesses said the teenager got on an express bus to Kuala Lumpur at 6 p.m. that day, and about 10 minutes later, he threw foam out of his mouth with screams and collapsed. An autopsy at a local hospital later determined that he was electrocuted, and no other injuries or elements of criminal activity were found.

A preliminary investigation found burn marks on his left finger, said local police chief Anouar Abdul Rahman. “Based on the melting of the charging cable and overheating of the cell phone, we suspect he was electrocuted while charging his cell phone.”
