Chinese-made robot vacuum cleaner attack plays abusive language and racist remarks

A hacked Chinese robot vacuum cleaner shocked American households by pouring out abusive language and racist remarks.

According to foreign media such as the New York Post on the 21st, the Chinese robot vacuum cleaner “Ecovax Divot X2” was hacked and played abusive language in American homes.

In one example, A, who lives in Minnesota, inadvertently turned his eyes to the sound of a radio disconnected from a robot vacuum cleaner while watching TV. After thinking that the device was defective, he reset the password and rebooted.

Since then, A was with his wife and 13-year-old son, and suddenly the robot vacuum cleaner moved and began to pour out swear words, obscene words, and racist words.

Mr. A was very surprised, but he could immediately recognize that the robot vacuum cleaner had been hacked. He put the robot vacuum cleaner in a warehouse for fear of privacy infringement and never used it again.

Similar things happened in several homes. In Texas, a robot vacuum cleaner made a lot of racist comments late at night until its owner unplugged it. In Los Angeles, a robot vacuum cleaner chased a dog like a scene from a horror movie.

It turned out that the hacking was true and the perpetrator was unclear, but the voice assumed it to be a teenager. The hacker seems to have penetrated security to command the camera, microphone, and mobile control device.

Currently, this problem has been resolved and the manufacturer plans to upgrade the model in November.
