In the future, the blocking function is expected to disappear from X. Even if a user blocks a specific account, the account will continue to see the user’s public posts.
According to foreign media such as TechCrunch on the 23rd (local time), Elon Musk said in his X, “The blocking function will only block the account from participating in public posts, not even blocking viewing posts.”
When a user visits the account of the user who blocked them, the message that they are blocked may not be displayed. However, blocked accounts may have restrictions on reposting, citation, and reply to posts.
In 2013, Twitter pushed for a similar update but withdrew it due to backlash from users. At the time, Twitter withdrew the update and introduced a stronger blocking function. Some users are reported to complain about this X update as well.
Musk also said in August last year that he would remove blocking function from X. Although he did not elaborate on the reason, X users who blocked stalkers, bullies, specific brands or promotional advertisements were complaining.
