Apple and Nvidia are considering investing in OpenAI, the Wall Street Journal reported on the 29th local time.
The Wall Street Journal said OpenAI and Nvidia are seeking to raise money led by prominent venture capitalist Scrib Capital, while Apple is discussing how to participate.
Thrive Capital will invest $1 billion in the funding and Microsoft, OpenAI’s existing largest investment, will also likely inject additional funds.
The Wall Street Journal predicted that Apple and Nvidia would also invest billions of dollars each, although the specific amount of investment is not known.
The Wall Street Journal analyzed that Apple and Nvidia’s investment discussions are aimed at solidifying their relationships with partners, which are essential to lay the groundwork for the intensifying artificial intelligence competition.
Apple signed a partnership with OpenAI in June to install AI features on the iPhone 16, which will be released next month, and Nvidia has also invested in startups related to drug development and robotics through AI over the past two years.
