The group discount scheme on the Incheon Airport Railroad Express ― a nonstop train from Seoul Station to Incheon International Airport ― will be extended to Dec. 31, company officials said Tuesday.
The scheme reduces the individual ticket price from 8,000 won to 6,000 won if more than four people book seats together.
“Foreign tourists frequently ride the express train because it offers comfortable individual seats, ample room to store their luggage and has a restroom,” an AREX official said.
He added that the group discount has been extended as many foreigners prefer the discount system when they travel to Korea with their family.

Riding the AREX train from Seoul Station also offers the convenience of going through a much faster departure process at the Korea City Air Terminal, located at the second lower ground floor of the station.
The terminal offers check-in services by Korean Air, Asiana Airlines and Jeju Air. Passengers can check their flight and luggage, and also go through immigration in just 10 minutes.
There are also currency exchange counters of Woori Bank and IBK at the entrance on the second floor of Seoul Station, offering the lowest commission rates in South Korea.
Additionally, those who do not qualify for the AREX group discount can avail of the discounted price if they show their currency exchange receipts at the ticket counter.
The AREX train services also include an all-stop train from Seoul Station to Incheon International Airport that halts at 11 stations ― including Gimpo International Airport, which caters to domestic and select international flights to China and Japan. The ticket price for the all-stop train is 3,950 won (using a T-Money transit card).
