Clash of K-pop titans looms

March will see a battle of K-pop titans, as EXO and Big Bang are both preparing to make their return.

The 10-member group EXO plans to drop a new album in March, after dominating year-end music awards with its third EP, “Overdose.”

The exact date of its album release is not yet fixed, but the boys did schedule the date of their stage return ― the “EXO PLANET #2 ― The EXO’luXion” concert series, to be held on March 7, 8, 14 and 15 at the Olympic Gymnastics Arena in eastern Seoul.

The five-member boy band Big Bang is also likely to release a new album in mid-March.

“We are working on a new album. Our comeback has been delayed because we want to bring you good music, but we are not ready yet,” Big Bang leader G-Dragon said in an interview in November.

Big Bang’s return as a group is drawing attention as some of its members put out highly successful albums last year.

Its subunit GD X TAEYANG, composed of G-Dragon and Taeyang, topped local music charts and TV programs with its track “Good Boy” in December. Taeyang made a splash across Asia with his award-winning track “Eyes, Nose, Lips.”
