A local government in Japan has decided to cover Mt. Fuji with a cover as some tourists continue to take ignorant actions such as throwing trash at a place where people can take pictures against the backdrop of Mt. Fuji, one of Japan’s most popular tourist attractions. The government intends to block photoshoots and prevent tourists from visiting the mountain.
Foreign media including AFP reported on Wednesday (local time), citing an official of Fujikawa-Guchi-jeong, that the construction of installing a 2.5m-long screen at a location where photos can be taken against the backdrop of Mount Fuji will begin as early as next week. Japan’s government is a smaller local government.
At Fujikawa-Guchiko in Yamanashi Prefecture, you can take pictures of Mount Fuji at various places. In particular, the view of Mount Fuji is spread out in front of the Lawson convenience store, which is known to be a popular tourist attraction. The recent influx of tourists here has reportedly led to problematic behaviors such as ignoring traffic signs and driving in front of convenience stores or throwing away trash without listening to security guards. In response, Fujikawa-Guchiko plans to set up a screen here.
If you go to a tourist destination, you should keep your manners. Or, tourists who visit Mt. Fuji because they really want to see it are damaged. Manners show the dignity of the country, and they should be aware that the dignity of the country is degraded because of the senseless non-manner tourists.
