Authorities said Sunday they have found images of flags of the Islamic State in the computer of a South Korean teenager who recently vanished in Turkey, amid the possibility that he might have crossed the border into Syria to join the extremist Muslim militant group.
The authorities said they found a few photos of IS members taken with their flag on the wallpaper of the teen’s computer, leading them to raise the possibility that the teen might have traveled to Turkey to join the IS.
The 18-year-old surnamed Kim has been missing in Turkey since Jan. 10, with a local newspaper claiming that he had exchanged e-mails with the IS before arriving in the country.
Local police said they have not yet found evidence that the teen had made contact online with the IS before leaving South Korea. (Yonhap)
