Samsung Display will unveil a number of the latest display technologies such as in-and-out flip that folds 360 degrees at CES 2024, a global consumer information technology (IT) and home appliance exhibition.
Samsung Display announced on the 7th that it will hold an exhibition for customers at CES 2024, which will be held in Las Vegas from the 9th to the 12th local time, under the theme of “Everything in Innovative Technology, the Beginning of a New Journey.”
Samsung Display will introduce the world’s first next-generation flip-type foldable product that can be folded inside and out.
It also applies folding and sliding technologies to monitor-sized OLEDs at the same time, pouring out various new technologies that will innovate the user experience.
It also introduces a ‘micro display’ that implements ultra-high resolution for the extended reality (XR) market.
On top of that, we plan to emphasize OLED leadership with a variety of products, including QD-OLED for monitors with the highest pixel density and scan rate of our own light emitting technology and QD-OLED for TVs with the highest existing brightness.
Equipped with 360-degree folding technology, the “In-N-Out Flip” not only allows you to check information when folded into a single display, but also allows for a lighter and thinner design.
“In-and-out flip is a technology that can present new alternatives to consumers who preferred bar-type smartphones due to the burden of the thickness of foldable products,” a Samsung Display official said. “When folded outside, both the front and back of the product can be used as a screen, allowing a new user experience.”
In addition, the panel will introduce various innovative products such as Rollable Flex, which can be rolled out like a roll tissue, Flex Hybrid, which combines two technologies, foldable and slide, and wireless earphone case equipped with display.
We will also introduce OLED products that will bring about the evolution of vehicle interior.
The first-ever Flex Note Extendable features a foldable panel that can be unfolded and then the screen can be expanded once more by sliding.
This product, which is an 11-type when completely folded, can be expanded to 13.8 (10:9 aspect ratio) when unfolded to one side and 17.3 (4:3 aspect ratio) when pulled to the other side to optimize the user experience depending on the content.
It is a product that can be used as a laptop or unfolded to watch movies when working in a car, and the advantage is that the screen size is minimized when not in use so that the interior of the vehicle is not damaged.
“Now, automobiles are evolving into ‘moving spaces’ beyond simple means of transportation, and OLEDs will lead this change in the automobile industry,” a Samsung Display official said. “In particular, OLED products that combine foldable and foldable technology will accelerate this change.”
RGB-based ‘OLEDoS’ will also be unveiled for the first time.
OLEDOS is an ultra-high-definition display that implements a pixel size of tens of micrometers by depositing organic matter on a silicon wafer, and is a key technology for mixed reality (XR) headsets that have recently emerged.
The RGB OLED displayed this time boasts the highest resolution among products announced in the existing industry.
The 1.03 micro coin is as small as a 500-won coin, but with a pixel density of 3,500 PPI (pixels per inch), it boasts a resolution similar to a single 4K TV product. RGB OLED is a technology that implements color without a separate light source by depositing red, green, and blue OLEDs individually on a silicon wafer.
The site will also feature products from eMaggin, an American OLED OS company that Samsung Display recently acquired. It will also display products such as military helmets equipped with Imagine’s OLED and night vision goggles.
