Google has decided to stop providing user data, “cookie,” to advertisers for online customized advertising.
On the 4th local time, the Wall Street Journal reported that Google will stop providing cookies generated by 1% of Chrome users, its web browser, to the online advertising industry.
Google said, “We will apply it to 1% of all Chrome users first, but we will expand the scope of cookie collection and completely stop it by the end of the year.”
“Instead of stopping the collection and provision of cookies, we plan to provide a new advertising system that can reflect the interests of users,” he said.
“I am confident that the online advertising industry is capable of adapting well to this change,” said Anthony Chavez, Google’s vice president.
