According to Kyodo News, the Japan Transportation Safety Commission has started an investigation to find out the cause and prevent a recurrence.

The committee is looking at Haneda Airport runway conditions, where fires broke out at the two aircraft after the collision, and the condition of the fuselage of the burned Japanese Air passenger aircraft and the Korea Coast Guard aircraft.

Apart from the committee, the Japanese police have set up a special investigation headquarters to investigate runways and other charges of professional manslaughter.

All 379 passengers and crew members of the Japanese Air flight escaped at around 6:05 p.m., but five of the six passengers aboard the flight were killed.

More than 100 flights to and from the airport have been canceled due to the closure of the Haneda Airport runway where the crash occurred.
